    1. Hi, thank you very much for this great tutorial. I’ve installed NetBeans 8.0.2 on my Fedora 22 machine. After I opened a MVN j2ee project, previously developed and successfully running on Windows, I couldn’t have get it built with Maven in my new environment. When I tried to “play” with pom.xml file, there appeared a notification pop-up Cannot lock read-only file.

Further on I discovered same thing applied to all files in all projects that I copied to /home/myusername/Documents/netbeansProjects.

When I right click on any project folder, under Permissions->Ownership-> it says User: root; Group: root

Is there a command that would unlock these files?

      • You can simply run following command (as root user):

        chown -R yourusername:yourusername /home/yourusername/Documents/netbeansProjects

        ## Example ##
        chown -R vasile:vasile /home/vasile/Documents/netbeansProjects

          • Hah, simply yes. Someday every Linux/Unix commands are logical, like:

chown – change file owner and group

            :)
