      my output is:

        You have to be same location where you download OpenOffice package. This error message shows that you are missing OpenOffice tar.gz file.

                    Is not command it refers to /etc/yum.conf content.

                    Next run following commands:

    4. After installing OpenOffice 3.4.1 on RH 5.9 I am getting this error, not sure how to resolve this. “no suitable windowing system found, exiting.” SELinux is disabled and

    8. there is no file named desktop-intergation in the RPMS directory i see a openoffice-gnome-intergration-4.0.1-9714.i586.rpm
      when i run this line it installs everything but i have no icon nor can i run openoffice

      I been at this for hours and i am very frustrated

        It’s directory named desktop-integration, not file. So right file is under RPMS/desktop-integration/ directory.

        Actually there was typo on file name (directory was right), but now it’s working, so could you please try again.

      Did need to modify the centOS step 6 to access the *.rpm
      failed
      rpm -Uvh RPMS/*.rpm RPMS/desktop-integration/openoffice4.0-redhat-*.rpm
      with
      error: File not found by glob: RPMS/*.rpm
      error: File not found by glob: RPMS/desktop-integration/openoffice4.0-redhat-*.rpm

      got it to work with
      rpm -Uvh /en-US/RPMS/*.rpm RPMS/desktop-integration/openoffice4.0-redhat-*.rpm

        If you check step 4. Extract Package and Access Directory, cd en-US do the trick and then following works:
