    1. Hi JR,

I updated from F14 with preupgrade. But the installation didn’t finish automatically. I had to manually download the broken RPMs (downloaded by preupgrade, due to my bad connection) and finish the installation. Then I had to generate intrafms img manually from a live cd and also generate the modules (lsmod was blank after I booted up successfully). Then the graphics driver was failing. I tried a number of things but nothing worked. Finally did `yum remove Xorg` and then installed it again with the keyboard and mouse drivers.

But now, Gnome 3 seems behaving a bit strangely. There’s no clock in the middle of the upper panel. Also, NetworkManager doesn’t start up automatically. What should I do?

      • Hi Little Pirate,

Sounds like a very unlucky upgrade process, but you could try install whole gnome with following command:

        yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"

If some packages are missing groupinstall should install all those.

        • Hi JR,

I forgot to mention but even the repositories weren’t updated to F15.When I had look in Software Sources, it showed me F14 repos and even a few F13 disabled repos. So I decided to backup my data and perform a clean install.

Anyway, know how to solve this repository problem? I’m rather curious and might also prove helpful for somebody.

          Thanks.

    3. Very nice and informative. I tried installing Fedora on my desktop which was previously runnning WinXP. I put in the CD and chose the boot option as directed. After that it starts booting the live media. Once thats done, it just stops and does not proceed further. What do I do? I have a Pentium 4 processor, 1GiB of DDR2 RAM, an 80GiB IDE HDD. I downloaded the i686 version of Fedora 15 from the website. What have I done wrong? Please help me.

              • Thanks for the very good info about your netbook! :)

For me this sounds a bug on Fedora 15 DVD installation media.

Btw. do you have any other USB media / Flash drive etc. connected on your netbook? Or do you have tested any other USB drive?

I try to search from Red Hat bugzilla, but I can’t found just your problem with Fedora 15, but this bug is close your situation. Comment 5 says that problem occurred when initrd line was missing on grub.conf, but this sounds almost impossible on your case.

One thing what you could do is fill a bug report here and see if Fedora / Red Hat developers could help with this problem.
