You could try using –skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va –nofiles –nodigest

      Any idea

    3. I just want to share something… compare to Fedora 14… Fedora 15 with Gnome 3 after installation nVidia kernel module… Gnome3 is crash (doh!) when I want to use it with Dual Monitor View… I configure xorg.conf to load desktops into Two monitors using nVidia X server Settings. I use Quadro FX on HP xw9440

I did this with my good old Fedora 14 Gnome and runs perfectly well…

On Fedora 15 I have to go to XFCE desktop in order to have dual view monitor…

Heh, sounds very bad. Personally I hate Gnome 3 and use just OpenBox and tint2… :) Of course I use sometimes Gnome 3 and I’m trying to learn to love it. ;)

    4. I received a 404 when attempting to Add RPMFusion Repositories (Free and Non-Free) for 64 bit. I ended up following some other instructions which used

      su -c ‘yum localinstall –nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm

which worked. The process I ended up using is http://blog.bodhizazen.net/linux/how-to-install-the-nvidia-driver-on-fedora-15/ . I have a nvidia gt 440 card.

I used this your instructions to help figure out the correct process. Thanks for posting.

      • Hi steve,

RPMFusion repos is updated and plain old free and nonfree noarch works with Fedora 15/14/13 so right commands is:

        rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm
        rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm

I updated this guide also. :)

I installed the latest nvidia drivers from the rpmfusion repositories. The installation completed successfully. But now when i reboot the system the plymouth screen hangs. The action – wait for plymouth screen to quit is not completed.I also get a error form LSB that the builds and installs from akmod package failed. Now i cannot boot into the system. Please help! How to recover my system now!

      • Hi Pranav,

You could try to boot init 3 runlevel with Grub and then you could try to remove akmod and install kmod-nvidia. If it’s not working then you could boot with kmod-nivida again runlevel 3 and try to modprobe nvidia and startx manually.

    12. Nouvea is bullshit. It does basic things and thats is .. is like cancer, you think you got it away and it pop’s up again.

This doesn’t work, if system is installed from live CD (fedora 15). no matter you do, nouvea is there preventing real module install.

And I am totally sucked this approach of fedora now : Why the F**K they hard force use of non working Crap and thus preventing use of good and solid driver !!!!!

You could try set your resolution manually on xorg.conf file.

Here is couple sources where is examples, howto setup screen resolution manually:

    15. Hi JR,

Thanks for sharing information how to get the Nvidia cards working. I’m running into issues as described by Pranav and David P., the drivers seem to be installed but the screen update is extremely slow. While trying to open the GUI Nvidia configuration tool I need to click on the logged username in the right corner of the screen to get the entire screen to refresh. Nonetheless looking into Xorg.0.log there is nothing strange. I’m running the latest kernel and GeForce FX 5200. Running uname -a provides this:
      2.6.40-4.fc15.i686 #1 SMP Fri Jul 29 18:54:39 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Running lsmod I grep nvidia shows:
      nvidia 7084464 30
      i2c_core 21572 2 nvidia,i2c_i801
running lsmod Igrep nouveau does not show anything, hence the driver is not loaded.

Do you have any ideas how I can get the nvidia drivers to be working correctly?

btw, I’m running fedora on a DELL gx270.

      Thank you in advance.

      • Hi Filip,

I have had no issues with Gnome Shell, but you could try following.
Add following content to /etc/profile.d/clutter.sh file:

        # fix for slowness in gnome-shell
        export CLUTTER_VBLANK=none

        And then reboot.
