    1. It works with some DKMS issues during installation.

      1) type this –
      ./NVIDIA-Linux*.run –add-this-kernel
      2) run custom build, 440.82 for me –
      NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-440.82-custom.run

    3. UPDATE for kernel 5.6.11 I guess:

The DKMS installation failed to build some module. (j8?) before that it did warn about a module make unnecessary. “Bad return status” “bad exit status:2”

I tried (as per the prompt suggestion) to install it without DKMS. There was another warning about the CC version mismatch (Driver on 10.0.xx kernel on 10.1.xx IIRC) I ignored the warning and installed anyway. All good outputs. Ran nvidia-smi. Smiled at meeting the expectation.
Really comprehensive guide. Keep up the good work guys!!
(PS: I hope I am alerted on my mail about any follow up comment/remarks :P )

    6. I use the rpmfusion nvidia packages with nvidia GeForce GT 710 hardware.

I recently upgraded our desktop computers to Fedora 32. Then I came across these instructions. After restoring “splash” to /etc/default/grub, and set plymouth to my favorite (fade-in), I followed your instructions and did “reboot”. The plymouth splash worked the first time on both computers, one of which is dual screen. Thanks for the help.

Thank you so much for this perfect set of instructions. I have yet to see any freezes the way I was seeing them (about once per day, lost mouse, lost all keys so no ctrl-alt-del, had to use power supply’s reset button) with nouveau driver.

    10. I have a new drive with f32 just installed on it, so I tried using your good guide.
It looks as if it all worked well:

      nvidia-installer -v | grep version says
      nvidia-installer: version 390.132 ([email protected])

      uname -a says
      Linux misty.localdomain 5.6.13-300.fc32.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 14 22:51:37 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

      lspci | grep VGA says
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF116 [GeForce GTX 550 Ti] (rev a1)

I did notice that in step 2.6.3, both grub-mkconfig -o commands showed several messages with

“rmdir: failed to remove ‘/var/lib/os-prober/mount’: Device or resource busy”

but I ignored those messages. Does that matter?

Thanks again for your very careful and complete set of instructions.

    14. Apparently, after a recent dracut update, we must now surround all items on both sides with whitespace, thus

      add_drivers+=” nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm ”
      install_items+=” /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf ”

After modifying these, I no longer got warnings.
