    9. Thanks for the help! I’m running to an issue. First for reference, this is the information for the drivers/hardware I used:

      Laptop: Razor Blade 14 2015
      GPU: NVIDIA GTX 970M
      Driver: NVIDIA driver 450.80.02
      Fedora: 32
      Linux Kernel: 5.8.15-201

I followed this guide, and it installed the NVIDIA driver successfully after step 2.9, and after I rebooted the NVIDIA driver was loaded successfully; I could open “NVIDIA X server settings” to view my GPU information, and the command “nvidia-installer -v | grep version” outputted “nvidia-installer: version 450.80.02”.
I can even test the successfully installation by running a CUDA program, which would normally complain “no compatible devices found”, if the nvidia driver has not been installed successfully.

However the problem comes when I reboot my computer a second time after finishing step 2.9. It seems somehow my GPU isn’t detected anymore, despite the drivers still being loaded. I can see this issue when I try to open “NVIDIA X server settings” from the terminal, but got an error:

      “`
ERROR: An internal driver error occurred
ERROR: Unable to load info from any available system
      “`

It’s the same when I try to run a CUDA test program, and it has the error message “no CUDA-capable device is detected”. The weird thing is that when I do “lsmod | grep nvidia”, it seems the driver is still loaded, because I get the following output:

      “`
      $ lsmod | grep nvidia
      nvidia_drm 57344 0
      nvidia_modeset 1216512 1 nvidia_drm
      nvidia_uvm 1134592 0
      nvidia 27693056 2 nvidia_uvm,nvidia_modeset
      drm_kms_helper 262144 2 nvidia_drm,i915
      drm 626688 11 drm_kms_helper,nvidia_drm,i915
      “`

So I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue before? Or does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I can temporarily fix it by going through the installation steps 2.8 to 2.9, but then after the second reboot, I get the same issue. I would rather have a more permanent solution, and if anyone has any ideas, that would be greatly appreciated!

      • Hello Tiago,

        Try following instead:

        add_drivers+=" nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm "
        install_items+=" /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf "

It’s updated syntax, I updated this to guide too, thanks!

      • Hello Francisco,

Maybe this have something to do with your laptop graphics. Sometimes NVIDIA drivers won’t work perfectly with systems with NVIDIA Optimus technology. Is it possible to disable Intel Graphics from BIOS/UEFI?

    14. Hi, i need install 304.137 driver but it’s deprecated. Is it possible to install any distro?

      • Hello arilogue,

Currently NVIDIA 304.137 is deprecated and not supported on Fedora anymore. There is no way to patch it working with latest 5.8+ kernels. You can try CentOS 8 and this guide instructions should work without problems. Also kernel is probably better supported by 304.137 drivers (might need some patching).
