This is guide, howto install NVIDIA proprietary drivers (manually using .run installer) on Fedora 37/36/35/34/33/32 and disable Nouveau driver. This guide works with GeForce 8/9/200/300/400/500/600/700/800/900/10/20/30/40 series cards.

First, thanks for a great step by step walk through for this.
I installed fedora 34 plasma kde on my older msi a5000 laptop with nvidia geforce 8200m and successfully ran through the complete driver installation you provided using the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.108-patched-kernel-5.11 and everything looked good. I did the final reboot after switching back to runlevel 5, system began loading but stopped with black screen and blinking cursor in top left corner. I tried hard reboot and same result. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am at my wits end! I have 8 monitors that work fine in windows. That’s two graphics cards. RTX 2080Ti & Quadro P2000. I can get one card or the other to output in fedora 34 but not both… The noveua drivers illuminate 7 monitors without issues. The one 4k monitor had to be disconnected. How do I get output on both GPU’s???

You can try to create custom xorg.conf manually or using nvidia-settings. Personally I haven’t tested any 8 monitor setup.

Hi, thank you for the article JR. I installed my RTX 2070 properly however I have a terrible battery life. It barely goes an hour and even for the simplest stuff sometimes GPU fans start working and does not stup for some time. Do you have any tips and tricks to oncrease the battery life? I went to nvidia-settings and set the stuff to high performance, for some reason refresh rate is only 144Hz. There is no place to set it to other rate. I even installed xrandr to decrease the refresh rate but there seems to be no option to make it 60Hz. So battery life isso crappy. This forces me to think about other distros. I really like Fedora but this is inacceptable.
For kerala 5.12.8-300.fc34.x86_64 tried with 340.108 driver . But failed building kernal module. Even with dkms and without dkms

Did you tried to install patched version? I tried it on Fedora 34 kernel 5.12.8 and it works normally.

Got a problem today after updating the driver from 460.84 to the most recent 470.42.01: black screen after boot messages with the latest one: “Started GNOME Display Manager OK”. The actual error I believe is in Xorg.0.log file: “Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module.”
I’m curious: is it because of kernel hasn’t been updated yet to the proper version (I did run “dnf update” before)?

Can confirm the problem with Fedora 34/Kernel 5.12. Got stuck on boot at splash screen. Tried installing NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-460.84.run

Let me know if you are interested in finding a fix and need more information or testing.
The display started stuttering, although I installed the right drive, maybe I need to install a more stable one, would it work if just installed another one, or do I need to uninstall that one first?
