This is guide, howto install NVIDIA proprietary drivers (manually using .run installer) on Fedora 37/36/35/34/33/32 and disable Nouveau driver. This guide works with GeForce 8/9/200/300/400/500/600/700/800/900/10/20/30/40 series cards.

Just wanted to give a quick heads up that NVIDIA has 390.157 out officially, so someone in inttf can update the driver list.

Well, I did a fresh install of Fedora 37 on my SSD drive, and noticing that NVIDIA now has 390.157 available, went through your guide above, and tried it out (sans any patch), and all ran successfully.
Thanks so much. The kernel is now 6.0.9.
The output from nvidia-installer -v | grep version is

Is step “Make sure that you system is up-to-date, enable inttf repo and change inttf kernel” really still required?
As far as I understand the Fedora kernel behavior is fixed since Fedora 36 with kernel 5.17.11 and higher.

Nope it’s not fixed, check Bug report which is linked on page you post https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2071209 it’s closed with status “can’t fix”.
So at least for me with vanilla NVIDIA drivers this is not working, because Fedora kernel have SIMPLEDRM enabled (just grep kernel 6.0.10 config). If it works for you then you can use Fedora kernel of course.

I am going to go back to a 6.0 kernel for now.
I found a thread at linuxquestions that says running modprobe video before running the nvidia installer, fixes this problem. It did for me.

Nice to hear that it’s working. Actually DKMS part is changed on newest NVIDIA drivers. It build module first, then it looks like it fail, but actually it should be registered totally ok. You will see it, what happens when you update your kernel.

after follow all in this web site and the command work, when i start my linux, i don’t see my loging user i write mon code and enter the wallpaper is here but, i don’t have gnome desktop nothing juste wallpaper. i try many think install Xcfe and more think and is always the same result. I Don’t know why ?

You are using wrong kernel. You should use inttf kernel >=6.1.14.
Hi, everything works smoothly on X, but when I try on Wayland, it falls back on Software Rendering.

Hi! I’m got the following error while trying to run the installation script without a graphic interface:
“ERROR: An NVIDIA kernel module ‘nvidia’ appears to already be loaded in your kernel. This may be because it is in use (for example, by an X server, a CUDA program, or the NVIDIA Persistence Daemon), but this may also happen if your kernel was configured without support for module unloading. Please be sure to exit any programs that may be using the GPU(s) before attempting to upgrade tour driver. If no GPU-based programs are running, you know that your kernel supports unloading, and you still receive this message, then an error may have ocurred that has corrupted an NVIDIA kernel module’s usage count, for which the simplest remedy is to reboot your computer.”
I tried rebooting in case the issue would be fixed by itself but it didn’t, so I gessed there was some daemon running that prevents the script from upgrading my drivers
I solved this by checking the daemon’s pids using “ps -U0 -o ‘tty,pid,comm’ | grep ^? | grep nvidia” and using “service {daemon name} stop” to stop all of them (stoping only nvidia-powerd seemed to stop all 3 of them at once)
Just in case this may help other people, if you already had installed Nvidia Drivers in a different way, remember to uninstall them before starting this process, that should avoid the issues I had
