This is guide, howto install NVIDIA proprietary drivers (manually using .run installer) on Fedora 37/36/35/34/33/32 and disable Nouveau driver. This guide works with GeForce 8/9/200/300/400/500/600/700/800/900/10/20/30/40 series cards.

I run Fedora 28 with kernel 4.16
I try to install the latest nvidia driver 390-42 and i have this error : unable to load nvidia-drm kernel module
selinux is disabled and een secure boot in bios
Any ideas to fix this error please ?

Hi Philippe,
Just tested this with kernel 4.16 and looks like nVidia drivers is not working. If you check dmesg, you see nvidia: Unknown symbol swiotlb_map_sg_attrs (err 0) errors. There is a patch available for this problem, but might need kernel spectre/meltdown mitigation disabled. I will test this patch later, but if you get it working, please let me know?

Try nVidia 396.18 (beta) works without patch with Fedora 28 kernel 4.16.
And 390.48 works with patched too. I try to test all versions with Fedora 28 and kernel 4.16 later this week.
seems like everything went smooth, thanks! the only thing – it did not ask me to accept the license, it just went to step 2.8.4.

Yes, you are totally right. Latest versions of installer won’t show that accept license screen, but example 304.xx and 340.xx shows that.
Having some trouble with Steam (it’s not launching), after some auto-updates from Fedora. Thinking of maybe trying to update my Nvidia driver. Can’t see if it’s answered anywhere, do I need to repeat all the steps from the install, or only some of them, when I download the new version of NVIDIA-Linux-x86…run file?
