    1. This guide worked great for F29 but in F30 w/ kernel 5.0.13 I’m getting a gcc version mismatch between the kernel (9.0.1) and what’s on my system (9.1.1). Please don’t tell me this means I have to build the kernel myself with 9.1.1!

      • Hello, I’m having the same issue. Can you send me a link of the documentation on how to rebuild this kernel under gcc 9.1.1.
        Thanks!

    2. These instructions worked on my Falcon Talon i9 with 64 gb ram:

      [email protected] ~]$ nvidia-installer -v |grep version
      nvidia-installer: version 430.09
      [[email protected] ~]$
      [[email protected] ~]$ uname -a
      Linux nyx 5.0.13-200.fc29.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon May 6 00:49:54 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
      [[email protected] ~]$
      [[email protected] ~]$ lspci |grep -E “VGA|3D”
65:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP102 [TITAN Xp] (rev a1)
      [[email protected] ~]$

These are the best instructions – most don’t work at all. Thanks!

    3. Fedora 30, without Wayland. Plymouth does not work with the NVIDIA driver.

    5. Hello, thanks a lot for this post.
      My setup is :
      Fedora 30 (Clean install)
      Nvidia Quadro 2000

So I’ve downloaded the patched version of nvidia-340.107

This is the error log I get :
      make.log:
      gcc-version-check failed:
The compiler used to compile the kernel (gcc 9.0) does not exactly match the current compiler (gcc 9.1)

      • This should be somewhere in this thread or in the docummentation but you have to ignore the cc version thus

        NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.107-patched-kernel-5.0.run –no-cc-version-check

    12. This instruction does not contain Driver update instructions as well, after upgrading (not clean install) from F29 to F30 i get `nvidia-installer –uninstall command not found`.
So basically, i have 418 version of driver and i want to upgrade it to 430 but… no instructions provided there. Could be great to populate this article with Upgrade section.
Btw – when tried to provide –uninstall flag for that downloaded 430 .run file i got message that Nvidia drivers not found on system, but i definitely have Nvidia installed.

      • Hi Markuss,

        Update is actually very simple:
        1. Download new installer
        2. Boot to runlevel 3
        3. Follow guide 2.8 Install nVidia proprietary drivers for GeForce 6/7 & GeForce 8/9/200/300 & GeForce 400/500/600/700/800/900/10 series cards
        4. Boot back to runlevel 5

    13. uname -a: Linux 5.0.17-300.fc30.x86_64
      nvidia-installer: version 340.107
      Geforce 210

Update patched is OK but black screen after login.
The screen is still active because when I click on the application launcher, I see it and it disappears again. If I can start dolphin or another application, the desktop becomes visible and remains visible.
      Thank you for your help.
