    1. Hello! Worked for me with the configuration below!
With the Installer Version 390.147 it seems not to be working, but maybe I made sth. wrong. With kernel 5.10.0.0 it also did’nt work.

      nvidia-installer -v |grep version:
      nvidia-installer: version 390.144 (dvs-builder@U64-P10-09) Wed Jun 2

      uname -a:
      Linux messrechner 4.19.0-18-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.208-1 (2021-09-29) x86_64 GNU/Linux

      lspci |grep -E “VGA|3D”:

    2. You are a legend! – Thank you for taking the time to do this!

It took a bit of trial and error, mainly around Cuda due to my Hashcat objectives.

Appreciate the effort in doing this and sharing

If there are some ideas around the following I get, its not a major pain, however I am sure there are some speed gains from a proper config… there are some notes on hashcat git about this, not entirely helpful though

    3. Hi. First of all, thank you for your great job.
Only a doubt. Does this procedure allow to use wayland instead of X11?
      Thanks again

    6. Hi, Thank you for the detailed procedure. I was able to follow it till step 2.8.5. I got an error: Unable to load the ‘nvidia-drm’ kernal module.

I have update my kernel and tried it again. But so far no luck.
      I have a 11th Gen Inter Core i9 (11950H) with NVIDIA RTX 3080.
I would highly appreciate your help. Thanks.

      • This is not tested on Ubuntu 22.04 Jammy, I will check this soon. Maybe some Wayland / Xorg config problem.

    11. Strange thing. It works for me on fedora 35, but it didin’t on debian 11.

I got still pretty good working ASUS 8800GT. Such a waste to not use it for main purpose, it still can do something.

Freshly installed Fedora 35, guided by manual, succeed. Kernel 5.16. GDM starts, gnome starts, it works smoothly. But i don’t really like fedora for it’s “fresh” taste. So decided to clean install new Debian Bullseye.
Driver installed, no errors, change boot target to graphical, after reboots and see only cursor on black screen. Not a white blinking cursor in top left corner, but natural graphical pointer, like in an obvious graphical environment.
I have no idea what happened. But i had out of time, so was decided to go back to fedora.
And in new, freshly installed system your guide worked again.

Now i’m just interested, what could it be?

    12. I’m using PopOS 22.04, kernel 5.17.5, I ran the tutorial for many months with each kernel change, only with the detail of “dracute-core” and “update-initramfs”, everything always worked.
In this last kernel change nothing worked, I did more than 5 times the tutorial, I redid some isolated parts but it was simply impossible to make it work, the installation in the nvidia driver always gave an error and did not complete, the only salvation was a “ubuntu-drivers autoinstall” that magically resurrected my PopOS, I don’t know what was done behind the scenes, but it fixed it.

    13. Had to downgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 because it didn’t work on 22.04. Current specs:

    14. After I installed the Driver (510.68.02 with Geforce RTX 3060), I couldn’t log in anymore. Every time I entered my keyword, my screen turned black for a few seconds and it showed the log-in-screen again.

    15. Disabling intel grafics in bios, helped with Black screen after reboot to runlvl 3, apparently it default back to intel when removing the drivers, resulting in Black screen if connect to Nvidia card.
