    1. Hi, this is a great tutorial, have been using it for a long time now. I would just like to inform that for me fedora 35 was not working with the 460.80 driver (RTX 3080 card). I had installed it with fedora 34 (using this tutorial), but it broke in one of the last kernel updates before fedora 35, giving me a flickering cursor on boot. Solved it updating to the 495.46 driver, but needed to follow the tutorial only using runlevel 3.

    6. Hi there,
Thank you for an excellent guide.
I have successfully followed the steps and installed it on my new shiny AlmaLinux 8.5 with the 4.18 Kernel. [with a very old GeForce card.]
I came across your article after noticing that the Nouveau drivers were giving me a warning about writing to a memory block?

Anyhow, here are the three outputs requested:

    7. Thank you so much for these instructions.
      They are all very clear.

      p.s.
I have to say that for the
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2060 on linux Mint the recommended driver is 510 but it does not work. It is better to install 470.

    8. Hello, and thank you for an awesome set of tutorials. I tried using this guide with a new installation of RHEL9 (just released) without success. I have a NVIDIA Corporation GK104GLM [Quadro K3100M] and I used the 390.151 driver. I followed your steps to the letter. The epel instructions threw an error, so I followed the instructions on the RPMfusion website, and that worked for the dependencies. I used your instructions for Fedora 36 and it all works great. Could you please help with the RHEL9 instructions? Could it be that I need to install your kernel or perhaps remove nouveau entirely? The kernel module builds successfully, but the screen just goes says ‘starting Gnome’ and then goes black with a blinking cursor. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks again!

      • Hello Bill,

I updated epel packages, thanks for this.

What is output of following command:

        lspci |grep -E "VGA|3D"

        • Hi JR,

Apologies for the late reply (I was away over the weekend). I tried following the updated instructions again with RHEL9 but it still does not work. Here is the requested output:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK104GLM [Quadro K3100M] (rev a1)

I have disabled graphics card switching in BIOS/UEFI. I am currently running Debian with the NVIDIA driver (older version) with no issues. Maybe I should try switching to an older version of the driver? Any feedback appreciated. Thanks again!

        • Hi JR. The output is: ~]# lspci |grep -E “VGA|3D”

I have tried installing the NVIDIA driver a number of different ways. When I reboot, it always stalls at “Started GNOME Display Manager” and then goes black with a blinking white cursor. I have tried restarting gdm and systemd-logind with no luck. Nothing seems to work. Any suggested fixes greatly appreciated!

I’ve noticed that after going through all of this the drivers for OpenRazer is not functioning quite right anymore or the Gui for it PolyChromatic. There seems to be a massive startup time and most of my devices aren’t recognized by it anymore. Do you have any ideas on how to resolve this?

    12. Hi, thanks for the tutorial!
Unfortunately I didn’t manage to install any NVIDIA driver (up to 390.151) for a Nvidia Quadro4000 card on Alma Linux 9. Followed the tutorial, used the patched NVIDIA driver, all steps run fine (although had to adjust EPEL repo path), but reboot resulted in black screen with blinking cursor.

      Logfile from X11 states:
      (EE) No devices detected.
      (EE) Fatal server error:
      (EE) no screens found(EE)

      Here are the requested outputs:
